Kern County Probational Officers Association

KCPOA Public Homepage

Welcome to the Kern County Probation Officers Association website.  Our Association proudly represents Juvenile Corrections Officers and Deputy Probation Officers employed by the Kern County Probation Department.

Our members work in all four corners of the vast area of Kern County and in between. Our job duties are as big and diverse as the County itself.

Most of our Juvenile Corrections Officers are responsible for the care and custody of juvenile felony and misdemeanor offenders housed in Juvenile Hall, Camp Erwin Owen forestry camp, and the Crossroads facility for serious and repeat offenders. Others are spread in a variety of work assignments including Bridges - a career development and education academy, Juvenile Court Work Program – which provides juveniles the opportunity to complete community service, Juvenile Court, and Transportation.

Probation Officers work collaboratively with schools, community partnerships, counseling and job development agencies, law enforcement, and other County agencies to provide a comprehensive network of programs which monitor and provide opportunities for offenders to change their behavior. Some Probation Officers provide services directly to the Metropolitan Superior Court, Juvenile Court, and all seven of Kern’s regional Courts.  One of their primary responsibilities is to provide detailed reports about offenders to assist courts in sentencing and adjudication decisions. Other Officers are responsible for the case management and supervision of over 7000 adult felons and over 3000 juvenile offenders currently on probation in Kern County. In addition to serving the courts and supervising probationers, Probation Officers assist crime victims through our Victim/Witness program; connecting those impacted by crime to critical services and resources in their time of need.

Over 350 members strong, the Kern County Probation Officers Association is committed to public safety and the on going effort to rehabilitate offenders.  If you would like to know more, follow the link to the Kern County Probation Department’s homepage.
